Around the middle of the 18th century a majority of the Merseburg Treasury had been transferred to Dresden as part of the electoral collection. For the consecration anniversary, selected pieces are now returning from the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden to Mersburg. Part of the treasure is a mitre similar to the one of Bishop Friedrich II von Hoym, which is elaborately embroidered with the cathedral's patrons Laurentius and Johannes. The magnificent mitre of Cardinal Albrecht of Brandenburg or the dagger of the anti-king Rudolf von Rheinfelden can also be seen.

On an exclusive expert tour, Dr Christina Nagel, research associate at Staatliche Kunstsammlung Dresden, presents these rare treasures and explains their value to the medieval diocese.

At the same time as this tour, the KinderDomusMerseburch offers the project The bishop's festive clothes to all children.
