FELIX MENDELSSOHN BARTHOLDY: 2ND SYMPHONY IN B FLAT MAJOR OP. 52 "LOBGESANG"
FOR SOLO, CHOIR, ORGAN AND ORCHESTRA
Merseburg Cathedral Choir, Halle State Orchestra
Soprano 1: Clara Steuerwald, Soprano 2: Rebecca Stadie, Tenor: Florian Sievers
Director: Stefan Mücksch

Der Lobgesang - a symphony for choir and orchestra. After a three-movement orchestral introduction, Mendelssohn compiles texts from Psalm 150 "All that breathes praise the Lord" and the hymn "Nun danket alle Gott" for the second part with choir and soloists. In doing so, he creates an impressive image of the redemption of God's people, who are led from darkness to enlightenment. A hymn of praise in the truest sense of the word, which two weeks after Easter can only inspire our joy at the resurrection and the simultaneous awakening of nature within us. After the hymn of praise, we are invited to enjoy a glass of wine.

18:30 Part II, Imperial Cathedral of Merseburg, 18:30
