"Jahr1000Schätze" and the 19th century

Our journey through 1,000 years of cathedral history with the "Jahr1000Schätze" leads to the 19th century. Merseburg Cathedral saw numerous changes during this time - political as well as architectural. A first significant cut was made by the Vienna Congress in 1815, when the city of Merseburg was handed to Prussia. The political changes are also represented with the many architectural modifications that shaped the cathedral in the 19th century.
