Merseburg Cathedral has permanently re-opened.
Please note the following guidelines:
1.) Wearing a mouth-and-nose cover in the cathedral ensemble is obligatory.
2.) Immediately after entering, every guest is obliged to disinfect their hands.
3.) All visitors are asked to pay cash-free.
4.) Visitors must follow a designated path when viewing the cathedral and its neighbouring buildings. The plan can be found inside the cathedral.
5.) Visitors are obligated to follow each safety and hygiene rule. Between visitors and staff members a safety distance of 1,5 metres must be kept at all times.
6.) Rules regarding limited number of persons in certain rooms must be followed.
7.) No one with recognisable symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 disease or any cold symptoms may enter the museum.
8.) Visitors who have had contact with an infected person within the last 14 days are not allowed to enter the Cathedral and its exhibition rooms.
9.) The Vereinigte Domstifter attach great importance to the safety of visitors and staff. If, despite the extensive hygiene and safety measures, an infection with the COVID-19 virus should occur, the Vereinigte Domstifter do not assume any liability.
Data protection information on the recording of visitor data
The Vereinigte Domstifter zu Merseburg und Naumburg und des Kollegiatsifts Zeitz are, according to the 8th regulation about measures to contain the spreading of the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in Saxony-Anhalt (Achte SARS-CoV-2-Eindämmungsverordnung – 8. SARS-CoV-2-EindV) from 15 September 2020, obligated to register each visitor of booked tours, exclusive tours and events in Merseburg Cathedral. The registration of your data after GDPR guidelines serves the purposes of tracing infection chains and contaiment of SARS-CoV-2. Your data is deleted after 8 weeks.

What personal data do we process? And for what purposes?
When we receive data from you, as a general rule we will only process it for the purposes for which it was received or collected. Data processing for other purposes is only considered when the necessary legal conditions pursuant to Art. 6 (4) GDPR are met. In such cases, we will naturally fulfil any notification obligations incumbent upon us pursuant to Art. 13 (3) GDPR and Art. 14 (4) GDPR.
What is the underlying legal basis for this?
The legal basis for processing personal data as a general rule, and when no specific legal provisions are cited, is Art. 6 GDPR. In this regard, the following capabilities come into consideration in particular:
• consent (Art. 6 (1) letter a GDPR).
• data processing for the performance of a contract (Art. 6 (1) letter b GDPR).
• data processing following a weighing up of the respective parties’ interests (Art. 6 (1) letter f GDPR).
• data processing to fulfil a legal obligation (Art. 6 (1) letter c GDPR).
When personal data is processed on the basis of your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time effective in regard to all future processing.
When we process data on the basis of a weighing up of interests, as the data subject you have the right, subject to the provisions in Art. 21 GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data.
The Vereinigte Domstifter zu Merseburg und Naumburg und des Kollegiatstifts Zeitz are obliged according to the 5th regulation for the containment of SARS-CoV-2 in accordance with § 4(5) to capture the individual visitors to Naumburg Cathedral.
How long do we store the data?
To trace back infection chains, your data is saved for 8 weeks.
To which recipients is the data forwarded?
A disclosure of your personal data to third parties usually ensues after we have been requested to do so by the health department of Saalekreis, if disclosure on the basis of weighing of interests is permitted according to Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f) GDPR, if we are legally obligated to disclosure or if you have given us your permission.
Where is the data processed?
Your personal data will only be processed by us in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Your rights as “data subject”
You have the right to be informed of the personal data relating to you that we process. When requesting information in verbal rather than in written form we would ask that you provide proof of identity to establish you are the person you claim to be. In addition, you have the right to the rectification or erasure of your data or to the restriction of its processing, where provided by law. Furthermore, you also have a right to object to the processing of your data in accordance with the legal provisions. You also have a right to data portability within the scope provided by data protection provisions.
In particular, you have a right to object pursuant to Art. 21 (1) and (2) GDPR to the processing of your data in connection with direct marketing, if this is carried out on the basis of a weighing up of interests. We do not perform any processing in relation to an automated decision-making process, including profiling in the sense of Art. 22 GDPR.
